ASCENT Results Certified in University Study.
A recent study that included 122 adolescents who completed the ASCENT
program indicates significant reductions in behavioral and emotional
symptoms as a result of participating in ASCENT. The University of Idaho
study showed that parents perceived a 45 percent reduction in clinical
symptoms after their children had completed ASCENT. A follow-up study by the
University published in September 2002 indicates that after 12 months,
participants had maintained outcomes from treatment and had actually
continued to improve up to one year after completion of treatment.
Parent Letters
"Dear Claudia and the rest of the Staff at Ascent,
It has almost been two months since our son has left Ascent
to attend Wasatch Academy. He came home for 2 weeks for spring break and I
was very concerned about what would happen. We put a great contract in order
and he did beautiful. Not only that but this is the first time in 10
years that we have gotten along so well without him being so angry and
defiant. He has changed a lot. He is much happier. He enjoys his new school
and has made the academic honor roll and is the leading scorer on the soccer
team. He never even had a 2.0 at his previous high school.
We would like to personally thank the ENTIRE staff at Ascent for helping
our son figure out himself. When we left Ascent following graduation, the
whole drive back to Seattle our son shared with us his stories. What amazed me
about all of the stories is that he liked everyone at Ascent. He said how
the folks in the kitchen were cool, his counselors on his camping trip were
"cool". The guy who drove him to get his cast was "cool" because he knew
everyone in town and at the hospital! I had never seen or heard him full
of excitement and energy sharing his stories. He is still carrying that
energy into his new school and has a great attitude. He even wanted Ted to
come and visit him sometime.
You have a top notch operation.
Thank you for saving our son.
P.S. - On the questionnaire that was given to the parents, I said that I
didn't think we needed to "do" the tower. I was wrong. I take that back. Not
only was the Tower a huge deal for our son, but when his Dad climbed to the
top, they had a connection bond that I had never seen before. The Tower is a
bigger deal than I realized."

Parent Quotes
"I sent you a broken, fragile, scared, defiant, self-destructive boy. You
returned to me a beautiful, loving compassionate, and caring young man. I
was deeply touched by my reunion with my son. It was the greatest moment of
my life. A small miracle took place at ASCENT and I thank you one and all."
